Now that Marvel Rivals has been out for a few days and we’ve gotten a chance to get a feel for the game, it’s time to talk characters. Specifically, we’ve put together a Marvel Rivals tier list, ranking all of characters from best to worst.
Our tier list takes into account multiple factors, including character strength, complexity, and and how much impact they can have on the game. Let’s get into it.
Marvel Rivals Tier List: S-Tier Characters
We kick things off on S-tier, where the best of the best characters hang out. These characters are incredibly powerful and able to change the outcome of games by themselves. This can include very high damage output, strong utility, or an overall strong kit. The S-tier characters are:
- Hela
- The Punisher
- Groot
- Luna Snow
These four are the best of the best. Hela and The Punisher provide an insane amount of damage output, which is ranged and consistent. They also have very powerful ultimates which either guarantee kills or space control.
Groot, meanwhile, is the best tank. He is incredibly tanky and his walls provide amazing cover, control, and utility. Last but not least, Luna Snow comes in as the best specialist, providing a ton of healing, good control, and an incredibly powerful ultimate.
A-Tier Characters
Moving onto A-tier, these characters are still good, but fall behind the best of the best. They’re still highly recommended picks and help make up a great team composition.
- Loki
- Dr Strange
- Rocket Raccoon
- Star-Lord
- Scarlet Witch
Loki and Rocket Raccoon enter as two very powerful strategist. They both offer a good amount of healing, damage, and utility, but fall short of Luna Snow’s power level. With that said, they can be very good, and Loki especially offers a lot of flexibility.
Star-Lord and Scarlet Witch are the two duelists of the bunch. They both provide a ton of damage and have very powerful ultimates. However, unlike the S-tier picks, they are shorter ranged and more vulnerable, especially while using their ultimates, which means they fall into A-tier.
Last but not least comes Dr Strange. He is a very powerful vanguard pick, offering a ton of utility and solid shielding. He falls just behind Groot but still ahead of the rest.
B-Tier Marvel Rivals Characters
Up next is B-tier, where the characters are generally of average strength. They’re not great like the ones above, but also don’t feature glaring weaknesses like the ones lower down in the list. These are:
- Mantis
- Hulk
- Magneto
- Peni Parker
- Storm
- Magik
These characters are all very much playable and shouldn’t be looked down upon. They provide solid damage, tankiness, or utility, and can get the job done. With that said, you might be better off with some of the choices in the higher tiers, but that isn’t always possible.
C-Tier Characters
Moving onto C-tier, these characters are less than ideal. They can be used, but often fall short of the options above, or take a great amount of effort to get value out of them.
- Iron Man
- Spider-Man
Both Iron Man and Spider-Man are duelists who just fall behind. They don’t provide as much damage as the other options and can be very difficult to make work, but are not the worst of the worst.
Marvel Rivals Tier List: D-Tier Characters
Last and, almost certainly, least are Namor and Black Panther. These characters are the weakest of the bunch, not providing anywhere near as much as any of the other picks.

- Black Panther
Unfortunately, there are just better options. Both of these characters have glaring weaknesses, are very difficult to make work, and, compared to the other duelists, just don’t do enough damage.
That’s that for our tier list, ranking all the best Marvel Rivals characters from S to D-tier. Currently there are a lot of great picks and things will no doubt change as the game gets updates with balance changes, new maps, and new characters!
